about

Free download! If you download Fred Franzen you also get 11 bonus tracks - all of Lucky Luxor. Fred Franzen is named for the actual legend Fred Franzen, and the cover art is used with his blessing and permission (a painting called Pink Sky Ahead). The unfortunately named Lucky Luxor was an audiozine released on January 11, 2011, which was a week or so before all the actual trouble began brewing in Egypt. I actually was guessing the next middle east trouble would happen in Turkey (see Goods and Services for reasons why) but named the audiozine after Luxor because of a line in Clover Time.

Track Name: Boat of Mine
got a boat of mine don't get out all the time unless the river's deep, costs too much to feed and besides the river ain't too much to look at gee, catfish and leeches I'd say you must be hungry, sometimes I tie it to a tree and lay on down in it and float in this boat of mine.

Oh river of mud river of reeds river of low hanging trees moving slow and it puts me to sleep in my boat with a busted engine while the birds chirp not a peep all the waves are still and the dimples from the current tug at me in this boat of mine

River flow, river of mud and reeds and low hanging trees please take me, please take me

I dream to cut the rope and to just go where the water goes, wonder under trestles where the trains above me go drifting under bridges to the Gulf of Mexico and float on to the places where I'll float in this boat of mine

River flow, river of mud and reeds and low hanging trees please take me, please take me

Mostly though the river flows and I don't sweat it 'cos I don't see it, mostly sweat it out in mud and in dust and air and earth and in aether pulled apart by currents not from rivers and seas and living under towers and trees

Under trees far from water losing steam and I've forgotten can I even still swim like I used to? I need to sleep I need to dream about the river that's beneath me I need to sleep and to dream of it again.

River flow, river of mud and reeds and low hanging trees please take me, please take me
