No friend by choice but fierce when loyalty's hold for those she calls her dogs her spirit's brave and bold where shadows creep and darkness starts to claim hold she stands upright beneath Transcona streetlights,

Dances on streets of salt throwing clouds of frost into the air fleeting vibrant a spaced out street scene by the Transcona junkyards beyond compare.

Mona Transcona, Mona Transcona, where did she come from why's she not going?

A mystery unfolds in whispers softly blown. I wouldn't come as a friend but if the bottom fell in I'll hold your damn hand until the very end. We may not last forever, our light may fade my friend, but at least while it burned it showed us a way:

She came from the heart of the prairies the city bathed in golden light Mona from Transcona secrets held tight walked a different path than any on the road, her spirit as vast as the fields you call home,

Transcona whispers tales of Mona's restless mind, secrets on the breeze, stories yet to find, across the endless seas her spirit seems to roam leaving seeds of wonder wherever she calls home,

The city stark and cold with longing in its eyes yearns to escape unseen beneath the endless skies untaxed by passing years and unattached in eternity though lost within a dance the stranger on the floor in foreign linen plays and Mona leaves them wanting more, Those words like hiddens deep a language I don't know, Transcona walks I take and every heart's aglow Mona Transcona,

Mona Transcona where did she come from and why's she not going? A mystery unfolds, the whisper softly blown, a soil that's set to roll where I can feel something inside, a world within my mind where dreams and stars reside and I find my place within one step at a time but maybe someday soon I'll learn a hidden rhyme.
